Layla Haddad (she/they) is a passionate, caring, and dedicated individual who values learning, travelling, and creativity. She thrives when working with like-minded individuals, passionate about equity work and social justice. Layla believes in and works toward celebrating and appreciating culture in addition to individualized values.
Layla is Queen’s University Graduate, where she was awarded the Equity, Diversity, Inclusivity & Indigeneity Impact Award. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in which she focused heavily on equity in healthcare, Indigenous studies, gender studies and race studies. She also dedicated time to strengthening her voice regarding advocacy for dismantling systems of oppression that exist within Canadian communities.
Layla acted as the Equity Commissioner for her faculty, creating educational opportunities regarding equity work and providing support to equity-seeking students. Layla believes that education is the most powerful tool that can be used to support others and is continuing her education through the Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs program at the University of British Columbia.
