Most people want to say something when a harmful comment is made, they’re just not always sure what that looks like in the moment.
Across many workplaces and communities, conversations about Indigenous peoples, land, and rights are shifting. We’re seeing more dismissive or harmful comments, along with misinformation and more polarized perspectives.
In this conversation, Indigenous educator and consultant Len Pierre joins Wyle Baoween to explore how to navigate these moments in a way that supports Indigenous cultural safety.
Together, they’ll share practical approaches for responding with clarity, empathy, and accountability, while maintaining relationships and navigating these conversations in ways that uphold integrity, safety, and respect.
In this session, we’ll explore:
- Where we are right now — what’s shifting in the broader context and how it’s showing up in workplaces
- Why harmful or dismissive narratives about Indigenous peoples persist and how they show up
- How to address harm while balancing curiosity, accountability, and boundary-setting
- Practical language and approaches to respond with clarity and empathy in the moment
