Throughout the month of June, National Indigenous History Month, we celebrate and pay respect to our Indigenous Peoples in Canada. National Indigenous Peoples Day takes place on the summer solstice, June 21. It’s a special occasion to learn more about the rich and diverse cultures, voices, experiences and histories of Canada’s First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

In recognition and in solidarity, Inclusivity will host a free webinar on “Indigenous Allyship”. This free learning opportunity will be delivered in partnership with Len Pierre Consulting on Tuesday, June 20th from 12pm – 1pm PT / 3pm – 4pm ET. We hope you can join us!

Being an ally is not a static identity, it is not a badge of honour, it is a sign of privilege. Allyship is also not declared but based on the context in which you act. In this workshop, Marissa McIntyre will unpack the similarities and differences for being an ally to Indigenous peoples in relationship to other ally contexts. Join us as we explore:

  • What it means to be an ally
  • Allyship teachings: Socialization and Privilege
  • Discuss tips and examples of Indigenous Allyship in action
  • Reflect on the pitfalls of allyship and practical ways to be an ally
